Palworld 1.0 Best Base Locations: Where to Build for Every Resource

Quick Answers

What is the best base location in Palworld 1.0?

The classic Ore Mining Base near the Fast Travel point at coordinates (172, -340) is still the best early-game pick — it sits on 8+ pure ore nodes with flat ground. For endgame, the Ice Wind Island quartz spots and the top of the volcano for coal/sulfur are the strongest.

How many bases can you have in Palworld 1.0?

You can build up to 3 bases total (unlocked at Base Level 10, 15, and 20). In 1.0 the recommended split is: one main crafting base, one ore/ingot production base, and one raid defense base near the new Raid Altars.

Do I need a separate raid base in Palworld 1.0?

Yes — 1.0 raid events spawn multiple waves and destroy structures. Keep your raid base small, walled, and positioned so your main base is at least 500m away. If a raid hits your main base unprepared, it can wipe weeks of progress.

Why Base Location Is the Most Important Early Decision

In Palworld 1.0, you can rebuild a base anywhere — but rebuilding is weeks of progress wasted. After testing every region on the map (and losing one base to a raid I wasn't prepared for), these are the locations that actually hold up through endgame.

Early Game: The Ore Mining Base (172, -340)

Coordinates (172, -340), just north of the starting plateau. This spot has 8+ pure ore nodes within building range, flat ground, and is minutes from the first fast travel point. Build your first Palbox here and you'll never hand-mine ore again — assign a Digtoise or Anubis with Mining Foreman and the ingots print themselves.

Mid Game: The Coal + Ore Combo (135, -540)

Once you hit Base Level 10 and unlock your second base, head to (135, -540). This plateau has both coal and ore nodes in range — the single most valuable combination in the game, because every ingot type needs both. It's slightly colder, so bring a Heat Lamp or fire-type Pals until you research insulation.

Endgame: Quartz (Ice Wind Island) and Sulfur (Volcano Top)

Quartz only spawns in the snow biomes — the best cluster is on Ice Wind Island's eastern shelf near the Ice Wind Island fast travel point. Sulfur is farmable on the volcano's outer rim; the top plateau south of the volcano fast travel has 6 sulfur nodes. Both locations are endgame-tough areas, so level your Pals to 45+ before building there.

Raid Defense Base: The 1.0 Game Changer

1.0 added raid events that spawn waves of hostile Pals at your base. My rule: build your third base specifically for raids, within 300m of a Raid Altar, with high walls, one entry chokepoint, and your strongest combat Pals set to Aggressive. Keep your main crafting base at least 500m from any altar so the raid never touches your production line.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which base location is best for beginners?

The Ore Mining Base at (172, -340) — 8 ore nodes, flat terrain, close to fast travel. You can safely live there from level 5 to level 30.

Where do I find quartz for Circuit Boards?

Quartz is only in snow biomes. Best cluster: Ice Wind Island eastern shelf near the fast travel point. Bring a flying mount and cold-resistant gear.

Can raids destroy my base in Palworld 1.0?

Yes — raid Pals target your Palbox and can smash through wood. Use stone or metal walls, keep a dedicated raid base away from your main base, and station strong Pals on Aggressive.
